CHICAGO – United States under-20 women's national team head coach Jitka Klimkova named Thursday a 24-player preliminary roster for the 2017 Women's Nike International Friendlies.

The four-team tournament, which also includes Brazil, England and Finland, will be played at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida from December 7-11.

Six members of the squad – Naomi Girma, Jaelin Howell, Laurel Ivory, Civana Kuhlmann, Brianna Pinto and Ashley Sanchez – were named to the 2016 CONCACAF Under-17 Women’s Championship Best XI.  Sanchez captured Golden Ball honors in that competition

“Our roster for this tournament is versatile, and we have players from three different birth years, so it's great that the young players are coming in and really competing well in this environment,” Klimkova said.  "These games will be great preparation for our qualifying tournament in Trinidad & Tobago and to see where we are in our development.”

The Nike International Friendlies will be the final international matches for the Americans before they attempt to earn a berth to the next FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup through the 2018 CONCACAF Under-20 Women's Championship, which is being held January 18-28 in Couva, Trinidad & Tobago.  The U.S. was drawn into Group B with Mexico, Nicaragua and Jamaica.
